Type of Information
Vital records are original source documents such as birth records, marriage records and death records. These documents were created by the person (directly) and as such reflect their particular insight. Like any document these are subject to inconsistencies. In the case of my grandfather’s marriage certificate he indicated that he was born in Wyoming when in reality he was born in Poland. My grand mother signed his death certificate and from her perspective she noted his mothers last name was _____ when in reality it was ____.
